“Cidonija, smiltsērkšķi and šprotes – how does it sound, look and taste?“ We invite you to join the tasting adventure and discover Latvian culture through local food specialities. The tasting experience will start from the best place to learn “what do Latvians REALLY eat” – Central Market of Riga: once Zeppelin hangars, these large pavilions are now home to one of Europe’s largest covered markets listed in UNESCO world heritage.

Accompanied by the best guide to the market – an experienced Chef, you will discover not only the monument of architecture and most fresh local food in five different hangers, but also learn what happens behind-the-scenes. A good meal starts with good ingredients. Do you know which ingredients were selected by the Micheline guide as the top flavours of Latvia? During the walk you will learn the nuances and tactics of choosing the best local products out of all available in the market, some reasons that make the best vendors stand out and of course discover most of Latvian specialities from real rye bread and traditional pickles to the lamprey – a local delicacy and an award-winning honey based moonshine.

After awakening the appetite, we invite you to taste the ingredients seen and collected in the market with some local meals and drinks at an authentic café in one of the hangars.
